Are you one of those people who stumbles out of bed and staggers straight to the coffee pot before you even hit the shower? Me, too. I’m not above having a couple more cups before noon. (After that I switch to tea.) Even if you’re not an acolyte of the sacred bean, you probably know someone who is. Or maybe you just enjoy the coffee flavor, but don’t need it straight from the pot.
For all of you coffee lovers, here’s a round up of delicious recipes that include a shot of coffee flavor. Muffins for your breakfast, cookies for your lunch box, and cheesecake, crème caramel or chiffon cake for dessert. Many recipes with chocolate also include coffee because it enhances the chocolate flavor. But here I tried to gather recipes where coffee is the star, not just featured in a supporting role.
Sweets for the coffee lover
Coffee coffee cake muffins from Joy the Baker
Triple Chocolate Espresso Cookies from Food52
Espresso chocolate chip cookies from Food Network
Coffee crème caramel from Food and Wine
Cappuccino Cheesecake from Bon Appétit
Espresso chiffon cake with fudge frosting from Smitten Kitchen
And for those of you who like to tinker with recipes on your own, here’s a great way to add coffee flavor to any recipe by infusing the milk with fresh coffee beans. Hmmm…I’m thinking about coffee pudding. Would coffee flavored pancakes be too much?
